Free Your Phone (a bit of geek soapboxery) [Jan. 28th, 2009|08:46 pm]
[Current Mood |calmcalm]

I am a member of the Electronic Frontiers Foundation, which I think is pretty nifty; this issue is a particularly thorny one for me personally.

Last month, EFF filed proposals with the Copyright Office seeking DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) exemptions to cover mobile phone "unlocking" (allowing the phone to be used on any carrier's network) and "jailbreaking" (allowing the phone to run any software). Carriers like MetroPCS and Pocket Communications have also asked for an unlocking exemption, but the Copyright Office needs to hear from users, too. That's where you come in - link to EFF's online petition here.

I've scheduled my PMP exam for Feb 3.. now the studying blitzkreig will commence. This is a big milestone for me as passing will allow me to seriously start thinking about next steps - what sort of position do I want, where will I move, etc. I think what will help most is listening to the Rocky theme as I walk into the testing center.

getting strong nowwwwwwww...

I am the assmaster... the master of the ass [Dec. 20th, 2008|12:30 am]
So, a good thing to do for de-stressing after a long week is to make a mix CD of cheesy dance music for your friend who also lives cheesy dance music... which I am doing now for Carla before she leaves for Christmas. I even continuously mixed it using MixMeister Express (which is pretty decent, does your basic crossfades, beatmatching, that sort of thing). The mix consists of the following.. behold the gheyness:

  1. "Shivers" - Armin Van Buren

  2. "Lonely Girl" - Oceanlab (really Above & Beyond with a chick singing)

  3. "I Feel You" - Schiller (feat. Peter Heppner of Wolfsheim)

  4. "Stealing Time" - Above and Beyond

  5. "Tempted" - Duran Duran

  6. "Enjoy The Silence" (Mr. Fiction remix) - Yvan and Dan Daniel

  7. "She Wants Him (Vocal Mix)" - Moussa Clarke, Terrafunka

  8. "I Ran" - Darude

  9. "Cry For You" - September (I cannot express how much I love this song and don't want to)

  10. "Here With Me" - ATB

  11. "Just A Girl" - Ian Van Dahl

  12. "Lost" - Sunlonger (feat. Zara)

  13. "By The Way" - Jenna Drey

  14. "Former Self" - Icon of Coil (I know, this seems like it does not belongs.. it does)

  15. "Silence" - Delerium (DJ Tiesto mix)

  16. "Satisfaction" - Benny Benassi (she probably already has this, but then again.. maybe she doesn't)

Late Night, Maudlin Street [Dec. 14th, 2008|11:53 pm]
Today I went shopping. Now that it is winter, I have been considering integrating the scarf into my wardrobe. I have previously avoided it, but now that I am slowly becoming an old curmudgeon.. I figure it's Ok now. It's just a basic black one, and if this works out.. perhaps I will move on to some with prints. I know there are various ways to tie the scarf.. but not much more than that. So, I googled "How to Tie Scarf" and found the Scarf tying guide. My lord, what is not on the internets. I am hungry, but have no food save indian-style lentils which I do not currently want. Maybe I will go across the street to the CVS and get some eggs, bread and milk and make french toast.. and be prepared for the next hurricane.

So, I am posting from my phone using lj's mobile site. Compiling java on the crappy ass machine I have now at this client site takes forever, so I figured why not try this out. Maybe one day I will get a paid account and do voice posting like u cool kids.
